1st Week of the Rooster

The first week in the Year of the Rooster is behind us.  I found myself with lots of time on my hands.  The country was still celebrating, and the office was closed until Thursday.

I used this time to spend time with colleagues and friends.  I ventured to Stanley for some shopping, kept looking for roosters, and had a German lunch with friends.

Saturday was a bluebird day.  It started with not a cloud in the sky.  So what do you do on the rare bluebird day? Go to The Peak and take advantage of being able to see as much of Hong Kong as possible.

We took a bus on the way up and the tram on the way down.  I have not been on the tram in years.  It is very steep, but it is worth the time savings if there is no queue.

Here are some photos of the tram and ride.

On the way to the MTR, we walked thought Hong Kong park and checked out a koi pond.

As I was going through Pacific Place, I saw their "mall display" celebrating the Year of the Rooster.  The rooster displays are just not as big as other years.

Sunday I found the best latte art at Crema - drank a goldfish.

After coffee, I found a stationary store that I am mentioning here, so I don't forget about it in the future.

CN Square - 501 Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei.   Check it out if you're ever in HKG :)

I found it listed on a website as a top 5 store for Arts & Crafts.  I'm not posting my purchases, so I won't spoil any surprises.

When I got to Hong Kong 2 weeks ago, I hit up one of my favorite yarn stores in Causeway Bay to make a baby blanket for a colleague.  I spent a lot of my holiday working on it and finished it today.

I ended the week with a taste closer to home at Cali-Mex.  I had a lime in my Corona, 3 pork tacos, and chips & salsa.  They also had self-serve tap beer at the table - Budweiser and Hoegaarden.  They charged HK$0.14/ml - equals US$18/liter (because who drinks by the ml).  :)
